BASH 123: Pwnt!
October 17th, 2009 — bashRob Bowling, community manager at Infinity Ward was kind enough to join our panel on BASH today. He let us in on the news that IW was taking Modern Warfare in a new direction. The online game on PC has changed. Dedicated servers are out. IW.net is in.
This is a game changer and many of you may not be too happy. I for one will be willing to listen and try it out. It’s all I can do.
For the folks in our community that mod and map, the future does not look as bright as the past.

Just cancelled my pre-order of MW2…i think ill wait till Bad Company2 is out before i get excited about fun online gaming!

So basicly its skrew the pc comunity , and the dedicated server system , and its get into the x-box comunity via pc . how about we boycotte the game . maybe then activision will realise that the pc comunity pays the shareholders profits year in year out . we are gonna have our hands tied up by the big boys control freaks , no mapping , no modding , no thanx . we have a 70 strong community ,and we will boycotte the game there’s $4,000 activision are down to start with . this is all about support for the pc community less $$$$ for x-box support all about the doller skrew us lets push for profit .

Just a word on this Pod Cast regarding the Non Dedicated servers for MW2.
So what happens to the people who live in Australia, or another places miles from the IW server? how are they going to overcome lag?
You all keep talking about Hard Core Gamers, what about the casual Gamer with a few friends who just wants to play together.
We don’t have enough people together to Start a private server, unless we want to do a 2 v 2 game or something idiotic like this. We just want to join a game together without having to start or host one. WHAT do we DO???

Ridiculous. PC Games have had matchmaking, and all sorts of incarnations of it. Its called innovation people, just because you have a generation of console nubs, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be accountable for decent games, and lack of innovation.

sorry you feel that way. but because of the change of no dedicated servers pc. i cancelled my order,and probably won,t buy any more from activision. to prove i cancelled here is my x order numberfrom gamestop .com#4090728162066265

cancelled my pre order no dedi servers no point for a pc game.. maybe ill get it for xbox 360 as it seems suited to consoles

I’m a pc player of cod and I am very unhappy about this decision. Not sure if you are aware or not but the petition that is going around on this is now at 82,462 people who have signed it and are canceling their pre-orders. If this number is true and if everyone on it says they will cancel their pre-orders, that means as of right now, 10-19-09 IW has lost $5,360,030 in sales. That’s money they could have had if they would have taken the time to make it with dedicated servers as the Cod 4 Modern Ware Fare game. Thank you IW for ruining a great game for me.

Only way to hit IW hard is to cancel your pre-orders and sign this petition and encourage everyone you know not to buy this game.
