BASH 87: Crushing Competitive CoD

The competitive CoD community may be at a crossroads. The launch of CoD:WW has not been received with great favor and the options for the game’s best players appear unclear.  To talk to these issues, we assembled some of the top shakers and movers on both sides of the Atlantic to talk about where top level competitive CoD is going.

And specifically…to find out whether CoD:WW has managed to crush high-level competitive CoD.

With us to discuss the issues of the day are: Joe Amorosa (Nabore) from Team Pandemic, Kyle Feeley (Hackett) from the Lost Prophets - whose writing can be found on his new blog myfragfactory.com/hackett, Andrew “Impaler” Coons from MoB, Ted Ottey (Sang) from CEVO and Garetjax.

Also making an appearance is Ryan (Raf1) from Promod who stayed up late to talk to us all the way from Britain.

What will the competitive community decide to do?

1. Head off to play S&D in CoD:WW and use either PAM or Promod?

2. Leave S&D for the first time in CoD history…and pick up CTF in CoD:WW?

3. Go to CoD2?

4. Stay with CoD4

Find out where everyone in the community stands by listening to the webcast.

BASH 85: World at Waaah

A full house on BASH this week.

We have the usual roundtable assembled, PST*Joker from mycallofduty.com, Jim (Rudedog) from fpsadmin.com and Michael (Garetjax) from codtv.tv, but in addition, we also have on from ShockNAweClan.Net their founder Rob (aka ShockNAwe Mack).

BASH 85: World at Waaah

We called this webcast World at Waaah, because as you all know there has been a lot of whining and crying in the PC community over CoD:WW, the next CoD installment from Activision’s Treyarch studios.

One of the more damning comments to come from our community emanated from Rob himself over at callofduty.com forums, where he called out Treyarch to either fix some of the issues in the game or face a PC community backlash: Source.  Strong words.  Well, we called Rob onto the program to face our roundtable panel and defend those words.

What was unique about this discussion was that it, for the very first time in BASH history, was LIVE. Yup, we streamed the show live to ustream.tv. The live feed was not announced (as we expected it to go horribly wrong…but it went swimmingly well to all our amazement).

Find out more about our live streaming webcasts by visiting our website and be part of next episode’s audience! It was a lot of fun to have that type of external interaction - and we’ll be doing it again next week, so come on by!

BASH 84: Aggregame!

A BASH exclusive!

This week on BASH we have a gentlemen that really needs no introduction, he was on the show just a few weeks ago, we can call him a regular now…certainly a friend of a BASH.

Today we have him on to talk about a private initiative, one that sees him getting into Web 2.0 entrepreneurship. While he knows all about the gaming, having been a long-time CoD community member and the owner of codhq.com, he takes his expertise in the gaming arena one step further. Let me relieve the suspense….we welcome Josh Olin to the program.

Josh is on to introduce his new web-based, community-driven, gaming aggregator that he calls: aggregame.com

Aggregame is a social networking site that is a cross between an aggregator like digg.com or delico.us and a social website, except that it’s for gamers.

Anyone in the gaming community will be able to upload favorite articles, video clips, blogs…you name it. The uploaded link will then be reviewed by the community and it will be voted on relative to other similar links. A competition then ensues and the most popular link wins, which conveys instant “street-cred” to the person uploading and provides the original material with great publicity.

Josh’s vision is quite innovative in that both the person who created the original material and the person who “found” the item win.

This webcast is a BASH exclusive. We are uploading the webcast literally as aggregame.com goes live.

Please join me in wishing Josh success and help him and his partners out by using the service!

BASH 83: World at War Beta

On BASH 83, the CoD Roundtable takes on the task of dissecting the release of Treyarch’s World at War Multi-Player Beta.  With the community at odds over the quality of this sneek peek of Activision’s next CoD installment, we try and make some sense of all the arguing over CoD:WW’s relative merits. With us to discuss the debut of World at War we have from mycallofduty.com PST*Joker, Team Pandemic’s captain - fresh off his team’s win of the CoD4 CEVO-P championship - Nabore (Joe), and the legendary Garetjax (Michael) and myself.

What is the scoop with the MP Beta? Are the naysayers and haters in the CoD community correct, or is it just a case of the younger non-WWII enthusiast crowd panning the Beta?

BASH 83 Show Notes

A few technical issues aside, the Beta is quite a good experience and does not deserve the dumping-on that the CoD4 gamers are giving it.

We explore the good, the bad and the ugly of the game. Will the game catch on with the young gamers who embraced CoD4, or will CoD:WW be restricted to the denture-wearers who still remember UO?

Have a listen and judge for yourself - and don’t forget to subscribe to BASH!
