BASH 41: Resistance is Crushed

This is the second of a two part special with uber-scripter, {PST}*Joker from the eXtreme+ mod and now from eXtremegamerz.net. In this episode, Joker gives us his first-person insight into the death of the first-person shooter CoD2-mod, Rise of the Resistance (RoTR).

The swift collapse of RoTR was reported on BASHandSlash.com

resistance.jpg

Why did it die?

Can it be resurrected?

What does Joker plan to do with all the work that has been done up to now?

In addition to the news on RoTR, Joker tells us the behind-the-scenes story of the CoD4 Demo download on Yahoo.

Yahoo aside, with the CoD4 Demo finally in everyone’s hands, it is unsurprisingly being ripped apart by the modding community and Joker tells us what they have found!

Also, find out the real-life fire drama going on in Joker’s state of California. If you want to contribute to the Red Cross effort in SoCal, please read here.

BASH39: CoD4 SP Demo

A BASH CoD4 hour-long super-fragtacular this week!

As you all know, IW has released the Single Player Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Demo for PC. We have all downloaded it. We have all played it. And some of us have even blogged about it.

bash39.jpg

Now we webcast about it. Joining me to chat about the demo, sing about it’s pro’s and hiss about its con’s are two Call of Duty community superstars:

Rudedog: The founder and owner of FPSadmin.com, a site which has been helping the community setup and maintain dedicated game servers since 2001. Rudedog is also the author of Rudedog’s complete RCON guide, Message center and site owner of FPSgameforums.com, which is the old alliedassault.com site/forums.

Also on the show is,

Garetjax: A man with a resume as long as my forearm…he has been a competitive gamer, he created the first PAM for competition, he broadcast Call of Duty matches on ITG and TSN and he used to do a weekly CoD Roundtable show on TSN and he is also the driving force behind CoDTV.

What did Infinity Ward do right?

What did they get absolutely wrong?

Does the community agree with Tally in last week’s show?

Also on this week’s show, we get a phone call from one of our staffers from Iraq!

BASH 38: Glasses Half Empty

BASH is hosting a roundtable this week with the top tier of the Call of Duty community. Joining Jock are:

Tally, from Rise of the Resistance, Matt Pruitt of planetcallofduty.com and BritishBulldog1 from HeatofBattle.net.

BASH38a.jpg

The discussion in the roundtable will focus on one pressing issue: the status of the relationship between IW and the PC Call of Duty community.

This discussion was prompted by Tally’s recent proclamation, which was posted in community forums:

Well, I love COD, but I cant continue to support a game developer whose so-called “Community Relations Manager” ignores PMs and emails from its fan-base after having initially invited them away for a fun trip, and then simply ignoring them as if they didnt exist. Its just insulting.

I said from the get-go that this was/is IW’s last chance with me, to keep me in the community, working for the fan-base, and producing custom content and being a general cheer-leader for them. I said that if they get it wrong this time out, Im gone. I really, really cant sit around forums for another year listening to all the upset fans (or, should that be “former fans”?).

They started out great, with invites and personal chats to key members of the community. Then, we got news of the Beta, and the PC community - of which I consider myself a part of - kicked off because it looked like the 360 was being “favoured” again, just like they were with COD2. We were assured by 402 that this wasnt the case. PC would get its fair share of exciting things.

Bullcrap! Its the old IW shuffle, blowing smoke up our asses to keep us placated. We still dont know the answers to the nagging questions about COD4 MP, and its only 30 days to shipping.

Is the IW/PC Community relationship improving since CoD2’s release or is it deteriorating? We find out in this episode.

BASH 37: CoD Hall of Fame

We have come a long way in the Call of Duty series.

Thousands upon thousands of hours of volunteer work by the CoD community have gotten us to where we are today: one month away from the latest blockbuster CoD game.

BASH37.jpg

It could have all ended after CoD:UO of course, if it was not for the relentless pursuit of perfection exhibited by the fans of Activision’s First-Person-Shooter franchise.

Today on BASH, we celebrate the best and brightest of those fans who gave their time and money to better our CoD experience. We honor these folks by inducting them into the BASHandSlash.com Call of Duty Hall of Fame.

These first inductions* in the CoD Hall of Fame (HoF) are announced in this special BASH “Induction Ceremony” edition for all four of our HoF categories:

BUILDERS CORPORATE LIAISONS MODDERS PLAYERS

Listen to the episode to find out who we have honored with being the first to be inducted into the Hall.

To help us with the inductions, we have asked two CoD Community stalwarts: {PST} Joker of mycallofduty.com and BritishBulldog1 from codboards.com.

Those inducted are only the first to get into the HoF. If *you* think someone in the community deserves to be inducted, nominate them! You can find the instructions here.

SHOW NOTES.

*Requirements for Hall of Fame induction can be found here.
